I know many of my goodreads friends gave “Assassin’s Quest” a rather low rating and weren’t happy with the ending and even though I understand their reasoning I still feel the need to declare that I liked it! Starling is horrified by the prospect, suggesting the heroic thing to do would be to issue a challenge to his enemies instead of taking them down unawares.I still loved spending times with the characters who I consider to be almost my friends and I am looking forward to continuing with the series in the near future. Right now I’m a bit bummed I have to make my way through an entire other trilogy first 😅 I’m sure I’m going to love it but still. And because I still have so many other things to say I’ll head directly to my characters section now!

I don't agree with this decision- this story follows too closely to other books with standard fantasy tropes (LotR, Shannara, Dragonlance) where the hero and a group of people go on a journey to find the item they need that will save the world. i am a massive believer that animals and humans have a very special bond with each other and i love how this story showcases that. Ever since Assassin's Apprentice, there’s already a pacing issue that lingers, Royal Assassin contained the same issue, but in here? For me, the ending did not need to be as long as the rest of the book - the journey was the main story line for me, along with what happens to the people from Fitz's old life. My brother and a good a friend both really like this series, but I had a hard time seeing it through.
