About this deal

I'm guessing that the more disappointed reviews are coming from people who grew up with Star Trek, and Son of Star Trek, and are just wondering where the plot and explosions got lost.

Whether aboard the massive space station or the Discovery One spacecraft, the hallways shine a brilliant, immaculate white, while clouds illuminate the skies with splendor, and the stars twinkle against the darkness of space with vivid radiance. Although not for everyone and some might not see the appeal, Kubrick's magnum opus nonetheless persists as one of the most important films in cinema history and rightly belongs on every cinephile's list of must-watch movies. The final sequence shows Bowman coursing through a psychedelic stargate portal, which leads him on a journey to old age, death, and rebirth.Kubrick picked the best of other ideas and compiled this into his movies, such as the strange music from 'Forbidden Planet', and the lack of editing in many scenes that go on for several minutes. The best way I can describe the way the HDR and wide color work on 2001: A Space Odyssey is that it feels like what happens when restoration experts remove centuries of grime from old paintings to reveal the intensity and beauty of the original painting again. sheet identifies as having been "completed in 1999 (for the previous DVD and Blu-ray releases)" and a new 5. The ship is run by HAL 9000 (voiced by Douglas Rain), a supercomputer that represents the pinnacle in human-created artificial intelligence.

At the dawn of mankind, a population of pre-human apes are visited on Earth by a large black monolith. Of course, as would be expected from a film of this vintage, there are a few soft, blurry moments, but they are related to special optical effects and therefore, forgivable. frequencies don't sound muffled in any major way, but they're not quite as bright (and some might say strident) as on the remixed version. aspect ratio, the 4K video's best feature is the significantly enhanced contrast levels, making the entire film seem sparkling new and rejuvenated. Every scene set in space is bathed in a velvety, rich blackness that splendidly contrasts the sharp, shining cleanliness of the spacecrafts.

Stanley Kubrick liked filming 'impossible' shots; such as astronauts standing in differing orientations to each other in the same scene. The ending is the thoughts of an astronaut dying in his bed in a dream and thinking ultimately if this is outstanding, then - with the Starchild appearing - think what our offspring will be capable of doing? When compared with the real Saturn V rocket Americans built in reality one - way with only three passengers. contains correct picture aspect ratio as it was scanned directly from the 65mm original negative which is spherical (flat) versus anamorphic (scope). Clarke) first visits our prehistoric ape-ancestry past, then leaps millennia (via one of the most mind blowing jump cuts ever) into colonised space, and ultimately whisks astronaut Bowman (Kier Dullea) into uncharted space, perhaps even immortality.

The craft from the space station to the moon, is a more economical and viable method, even if never built in reality. First off, streaming was capped at 1920 x 1080 as opposed to the marvellous 3840 x 2160 provided by our trusty home cinema projector. It’s believable in the scope of civilization, and this is backed up by the scientific environments and the A. The structure of this film is that when the monolith on the African plain is placed with the apes, its physical symbol of the first logical thought by the apes, these being the size ratios of the squares of the first three integers, 1;2;3, (1:4:9). Viewers can better make out the individual hairs on the bodies of the hominids, each pebble, and crevice in the rock formations is plainly visible, and the fine lines in the minimalist, sterilized design of spaceships are a bit more striking.

Maybe even more exceptional than the sensitivity but also drama of the HDR and wide color work, though, is the 4K grading. As well as new artwork from the excellent Matt Ferguson and Florey from Vice Press, you get original artwork – included as fold-out mini-posters. In my view, it is not possible to look at this film in a coherent way without thinking hard about its place in cinema history and its place in the science fiction film genre.

I knew this man would be a contender to be one of greatest film directors of the 20th century,” says Dullea. You’ve got great human performances led by Kier Dullea’s Astronaut Dave Bowman, who’s restrained and smart, focused, fearful and then determined to fight back – just when he needs to.There’s something about his performance that can’t be undervalued, the work he does to captivate is just as iconic as the film and without him at the centre, we might not have the same overall admiration. Furthermore, there’s 2001: FX and Early Conceptual Artwork (self-explanatory), Look: Stanley Kubrick! Esta es una de mis películas favoritas, por lo cual decidí comprarla en blu-ray para obtener una buena calidad de imagen. Minutes With is a podcast that has a variety of different shows that cover all aspects of movies, music, video games, television and live events. The 4K Ultra HD is far superior to previous home releases, which were based on a 2K scan from a 35mm optical reduction of the 65mm negative.
