METAXA is aged in handmade French oak barrels for at least three years before being flavored with a secret blend of herbs, including rose petals and distilled water. The classic ouzo contains 40% alcohol, and is usually enjoyed in a tall glass with a piece of ice or a little water - this gives the clear drink a white colour. In 1888 Spyros Metaxa, by blending only the finest matured wine distillates with the selected sun soaked grapes of Attica, created this distintive spirit giving it a unique smooth and mellow taste, neat, or on the rocks.
