About this deal

I loved the emphasis on the importance of color and hope and imagination when life gets dark or rough. The characters are compelling, from Frost herself, to her robot servant, Bunt, to the memories that are/were her father, to the overlords who run the world she enters.

Journalist Meg Taylor had no problem leaving her big city life behind to come home to care for her sick father, but she does miss the excitement of chasing a story. I was actually at the part where things were really starting to get interesting, but my commute was over and it was a Friday evening and I was just never able to make myself pick it back up to see how it ended. This was such a surprisingly dark read, especially since the cover is so beautiful and the book premise seemed so light, which was quite apparent from the first few pages. The inn where Strauch resides is managed by a woman with a husband in prison and an endless sequence of lovers. The ending was compelling enough to make me want to read the next book in the series, Ambrosia, I really want to know what happens. I’ve been reading this book during my holiday and I was just waiting for some time off to get back to it.

I feel like we just barely scratched the surface of this world and I’m really excited to find out more! Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. But one thing we know about Ava is that she has never been one to back down from a fight and bowing to a king of the people that threw her away like trash is surely one battle she can easily win. There, Rosie confronts a menacing deputy headmaster, a group of mean girls intent on destroying her, and shocking family secrets. I loved that this was a historical fiction book, and Radhika was gobsmacked when she found that Anne Boleyn was a real person, who was actually executed in the way the book described! This book introduces a methodology for thinking of our UIs as thoughtful hierarchies, discusses the qualities of effective pattern libraries, and showcases techniques to transform your team's design and development workflow. The author could have easily inserted more graphic material, but reigned it in to keep this work accessible to a younger audience.

Frost isn’t a huge fighter and she’s not super smart (but she’s not dumb either), but she could easily be any one of us, and I think that’s what makes her so relatable. His style is more on the darker, edgier side, yet maintaining a whimsical tone, akin to authors like Roald Dahl and JK Rowling, where the reader isn't supposed to feel safe. A serial killer is murdering local prostitutes; a man demolishing his garden shed uncovers a long-buried skeleton; there is an armed robbery at a local minimart and a ram raid at a jewellers. But following Frost home will give her more story than she bargained for–dangerous mercenaries, spaceships, intrigue, and a sexy blue-skinned alien looking for more than a one night stand.

The book took me a lot longer to read than I anticipated and though the ending had a few surprising twists, it wasn’t enough to make me enjoy the story overall. However, every once in a while, an author off the beaten path will catch my attention and impress me. I liked the tournaments, but I wished there was one that showed something that required using your brain and not just your brawns.

It wasn't the most original or intricative of stories (although all the princesses and their clans were a bit confusing), but I loved it. Didn’t think I was going to like this one, but I’m glad I decided to read it and see what it was truly about. And with a slew of other crimes hitting the area, from counterfeit goods to a violent drugs gangs swamping Denton with cheap heroin, the stakes have never been higher. I think it was just a tad too out there for me, with human consciences in some robots and other robots trying to assimilate humans while still others wanted to BE like humans. If you are a fan of stories with original ideas and addictive writing then you'll want to grab this one!
