I’ve been looking for two player games to play and I saw Fox in the Forest being recommended in several videos. Overall the game is really lovely though: from the beautiful illustrations, the great component quality, the easy rules to the overall puzzle of collecting the gems before time runs out. It's a cooperative game where a pair will get better at playing as they get more familiar with their partner's style, which can be very satisfying when you beat a difficult game together.

You might both start off trying to lose, then both switch to trying to win, only for one of you to bail and go back to losing. Well, now we’re going to lose all of that momentum as I plunge this review-car up to its axles in mud, because Fox in the Forest is a trick-taking game. As it stands this doesn’t work as the abilities in one game don’t work with the mechanics in the other and the card backs are also different but it just feels like this is something that could have been done. Roanna Peroz has done an outstanding job with the cover image as well as the card illustrations and game board. We're 50 games in, and still feel like we just scratched the surface on the possibilities this game has to offer.
