EN L'extreme, much like its little brother, is one of those polarizing fragrances that won't appeal to the masses. But for me the burnt smokiness lowers it overall, probably because it reminds me so much of man in black.

I get the smoky vetiver initially, something green but hard to identify as cypress, which after a while simply culminates in a cool, sweet, comfortable drydown. The presence of Orris provides a powdery characteristic, finishing off with sandalwood and patchouli. The drydown is sandalwood and incense mainly, for me with the smallest, nearly invisible hint of patch.Honestly though, after it dries down a bit all your left with is a slightly spicier Encre Noir with the exact same vetiver drydown that you already know. I think it's very versatile fragrance, some people may not like it but it's not offensive in any way. This is a beautiful woody fragrance which would be great to wear on those rainy Autumn evenings, but even though cheap, it's ultimately not worth the money due to it's simply non-existent performance. Projection, longevity on my skin was exactly as you can find in many of the reviews, but suddenly the perfume started to underperform?

I prefer this and EN Sport over the OG, and this is a very economical alternative to fill the GPH I slot. I thought it would smell of damp earth and wood, and it sort of does, but there is just something about it that turns my stomach. It' s a dark woody smell with little to no complexity, for winter, but not the classic oily dark vintage smell. It took me less than 20 minutes to establish this as one of the top scents in my collection, although it is not for everyone. Probably not the first thing you should get, but if you’re a bit bored of your usual dna, this is a pretty great thing to expand your horizon with.I tried Encre Noire (from the sample) but I don’t remember what I thought about it – I will revisit it soon.
