I bought these for my wife as she was really upset she won't get polverones for Christmas as normally her parents bring them over. Besides the mail brand, Doña Jimena, after well-known brand like Imperial Toledana are also manufactures and sold by the company. This special offering embodies Doña Jimena’s artisanal roots and the innovations brought by a new generation. Nothing else is known about Jimena until the end of 1094, when Rodrigo Díaz, on October 21, winning the battle of Cuarte, secured his control over Valencia (that he had conquered on June 17 of that year) and she was reunited with her husband until his death in 1099. It is one of Spain's largest and most experienced producers of fine chocolates and Christmas specialities.

Ingredients- Wheat flour, animal fat (refined butter ( milk), antioxidants - ascorby palmitate, tocopherol-rich extract and propyl gallate), sugar, almond, egg yolk powder, flavourings and cinnamon powder. Around this period there remains a document of donation made by Jimena Díaz to the Cathedral of Valencia in 1101 containing her signature. They are soft and powdery, which is where the name Polvorones comes from, since polvo means powder in Spanish.They are made with wheatflour and ground almonds, lightly flavoured with either crunchy almonds, cocoa, wine flavour or cinnamon, and are very soft and as the name implies, powdery. Doña Jimena products are holiday tradition throughout Spain and are regularly given as gifts during Christmas. After tombs were ransacked during the Napoleonic Wars, they were reburied in Burgos, and they now rest in Burgos Cathedral. Each biscuit and pastry is made with ground almonds and flavoured further with either cinnamon or crunchy almond pieces.
