About this deal

However, putting the bar into factory production was tricky because of the fiddly joins in the centre of the bar. Then, starting in the top left-hand corner, zigzag the second strand down and across the frame all along its length, finishing in the bottom right-hand corner. It is based on a simple pulled-toffee technique since, sadly, I didn’t have access to a Twenty-Four Rope Extruder.

This place is going down hill fast, the play area is freezing, make sure you have hat gloves and scarf if you’re going.

When you think about it, there’s not really an awful lot to many of our best sweets in terms of raw materials. We recommend that you always check the packaging for allergen advice and talk to your doctor if you need any further food allergy advice. And of course the full sized bars like Mars and Snickers- at 40p+, these were a luxury option rarely possible on a limited pocket money budget.

Whilst every effort has been taken to ensure the accuracy of the product information provided, products and their ingredients may change. This may affect nutrition and allergen information therefore you should always check product labels and not rely solely on the information presented here.

The Curly Wurly is incredibly basic and simple- the outer coating (which is very thin indeed) is Cadbury’s ‘secondary’ milk chocolate, lacking the same strength of flavour as their Dairy Milk. If you do require precise ingredient information you should consult the manufacturer, whose contact details will appear on the packaging or label. It was Bill who perfected the complex piece of machinery needed to weave the toffee strands together.

Melanie and her 3 members of staff (3 lovely and polite young ladies) made us all feel welcome and were very attentive. Work your way up the swirly ladder of Cadbury milk chocolate, nibbling into the caramel centre with every mouthful.Put all the ingredients for the toffee, apart from the flavouring, into a heavy-bottomed pan, attaching your sugar thermometer to the inside. Glucose syrup, sugar, palm oil, cocoa butter, whey powder (from MILK), cocoa mass, skimmed MILK powder, whey permeate powder (from MILK), MILK fat, emulsifiers (E471, lecithins, E442, E476), salt, flavourings, acidity regulator (sodium carbonates), stabiliser (E509). A member of staff did say something to a few of them, but it seems like this is such a common occurrence.

S. Marathon bar is not to be confused with the Marathon bar sold by Mars in the UK which was nothing like a Curly Wurly. The problem is, whereas the caramel can expand and stretch very easily, chocolate doesn’t do that so well. Mars Mixes it Up – A Tricky Trinity of Timeless Brands: Part Two: 3-Musketeers was the original Marathon bar? The caramel centre is much more like stringy toffee, and as you bite and pull your mouth away from the bar, it ‘follows you’ so to speak. Ingredients: Glucose syrup, sugar, palm oil, cocoa butter, whey powder (from MILK), cocoa mass, skimmed MILK powder, whey permeate powder (from MILK), MILK fat, emulsifiers (E471, lecithins, E442, E476), salt, flavourings, acidity regulator (sodium carbonates), stabiliser (E509).
