About this deal

I think this would make a better Scream-style movie than book and can't recommend it for anyone looking for more than cursory horror/suspense. Chasing The Dead is a messy conglomeration of all those, something I was not aware of when I began reading. Even now having finished the story I'm really not sure what it was all about and what actually happened. Bell έφεραν στην Ελλάδα τη σειρά του Tim Weaver (η οποία στη χώρα μας θα φέρει τον τίτλο ''Υποθέσεις Εξαφανισμένων Προσώπων''). I thought I saw where it was going but I was off down the wrong road entirely - Heading for Cornwall when I should have been heading for Scotland so to speak.

Until, haunted by the unsolved murders of a mother and her twin daughters, his life was left in ruins. It starts off like a regular mystery novel, but things begin to get really interesting when blood starts to flow. His latest assignment is to find Alex, a young man who was killed in a car accident, but whose mother swears she's seen him alive. Raw from the recent death of his wife, he is hired by a friend who swears she has seen her dead son, Alex, walking around London.

I think the biggest problem here is that you just don't care about any of the characters, or what happens to them. Mary Towne contacts missing persons investigator David Raker claiming to have seen her dead son Alex.As soon as I caught the faintest whiff of supernatural I wasn't mad because I wasn't warned about it, I was excited for it to show itself completely and just add to the intensity of the novel. He lost his wife to cancer and still feels this loss acutely and is reluctant to start a new relationship until he feels he's ready to move on and not before. Having bought it I may try again in a few months but I still think it will hover around the pile to go to the village hall for others to try.

I’ve only heard positive reviews about this series and being an OCD reader I needed to start at the beginning to learn the full story behind the main character and so I’ve downloaded all Tim’s other books and started Chasing the Dead. I don't think I've seen a similar plot resolution in all my years reading Crime Fiction (although I'm guessing someone, somewhere will correct me!

Joe Coen becomes David Raker and with clever writing from Tim Weaver, draws you in to the story and making you want more.

Joe Schreiber was born in Michigan but spent his formative years in Alaska, Wyoming and northern California. I skimmed the second half, with its complacent scenes of torture and pseudo Christian references to evil and such! The subject matter, evil alternative religion, is nasty and I really didn't see the final twist coming.

He is also the host and producer of the chart-topping Missing podcast and is currently developing an original TV series with the team behind Line of Duty.
