About this deal

Instead of being able to grieve his loss on this difficult day his wife Liz is steaming angry after making a discovery which shocks her. The story flows in the past and present tense as, the exotic break away with the friends and new partners. They were all fleshed out well and there were some intense scenes between them, making this book really engaging. A mother discovers that the nanny who framed her for abandoning her 3-year-old daughter is her ex-husband's new girlfriend, but no one believes her version of events.

I usually fall back on cliches such as “as well as can be expected”, which I think is what they want to hear. Marshall definitely tries to keep the reader guessing in regards to the mystery component of the tale. Poppy never featured very highly on Andrew’s list, although in retrospect that may have been political on his part.At times intriguing, at times confusing ( re the biggish cast list and how they all interacted with each other, most of them over decades ) this ‘Whodunit’ for me was solved in my head about half way through, I was crowing I was right, and I was but then the last chapter kinda changed all that…. The Chalke History Festival announces a new name, new look, and tons for history buffs to get their teeth into!

For him it was a gap in the market he was keen to fill, but for her it not only chimed with her green instincts but was a natural next step from working as an in-house PR for various eco charities. Originally I had mooted a non-religious ceremony but Andrew’s parents had objected, and as I didn’t have any strong feelings either way a church service seemed the right thing to do. I did think it was strange that Leah and Adam didn't fight over their kid, but for some reason she had to hide her work trip from him. Forced to go on the run to prove her innocence and protect her child, she learns that the woman is an escaped mental patient, and must convince her estranged husband that he is dating a psychopath before it's too late. After the initial hook, the story jumps back three months as the two are holidaying in Italy with a couple of groups of friends. Also invited were Trina and husband Julian, Poppy who was Andrews business Partner and Todd’s twenty four year old daughter Kitty. There was a lot of hype around this book on social media, but having read it, I don’t really understand why! Rather than grieving, she discovers something in one of his pockets that indicates that he had been having an affair.

As the story progresses and Liz delves into their lives, it makes for compelling reading as she tries to piece the bits all together. I know an 8/10 is extremely high, but Lifetime really needs to do more movies like this with good actors, a good script, and characters that aren't complete morons. It kept me guessing to the end, was packed full of twists and was also a very moving portrayal of someone who is widowed unexpectedly. The story opens in the aftermath of this event and moves back to follow events of the holiday, in which simmering tensions come to the surface. Given the little reviews the book had I didn’t really know what to expect- so I thought why not go and read it myself, enjoy the journey it takes me on.A dark-haired young woman I don’t recognise sits in the final row, stifling tears, rummaging in her bag for a tissue.

You might think that you have read this storyline before, but believe me when I say that you haven’t read it like this. Despite the fairly large cast of characters, which does take some sorting out at the beginning, it's a novel filled with suspense, intrigue and mystery. They brought lasagnes and flowers and books and chocolate in those slow, quick, hazy days after we got home from Italy, days I can now scarcely remember. Overall another great book by Laura Marshall and with its fast pace and twists and turns you'll not be disappointed to read this. How I can’t bear that they have had to learn this lesson so young - that life is cruel and unpredictable, that things change and people can be taken from you in the blink of an eye. This book felt like friendship school drama poured and moulded into the real life drama mixed with friend holiday drama. They took my boys - shell shocked and dazed but still needing company and entertainment - on outings, giving me time to deal with the endless admin, or to do nothing at all but stare into space or cry on the sofa.
