About this deal

The book gets dark and violent sometimes, which was good because I often find middle-grade books writing about, for example, a dangerous man who has killed someone yet he barely harms anyone in the book. Peter grew up in South London in a rambling Victorian house with three cats, two dogs, one sister, an antique-dealer dad and an artist mum. The Victorians loved stories that featured lockets and lost identities - did this help you form some of your ideas for Moonlocket? A fast paced, non-stop adventure, intended for a younger audience but still able to be enjoyed by adults.

But they are also flawed, they get scared, they do stupid things, they are real… It is a book filled with puzzles and adventure.

It shows the importance of friendship, and how it is sometimes more important than family, and how a these relationships can get you through hard times. Lily and her father, the greatest inventor in the country, Professor John Hartman are living back at Brackenbridge Manor, also living with them is Robert Townsend whose father was killed whilst helping Lily in the original Cogheart adventure. There were a few lines in this book that really hit my heart; "They think I'm not as clever or capable as them because of who I am.

Peter Bunzl has once again created a world that sucks you into the steampunk streets, skies and sewers of Victorian England, routing for Lily and Robert against a criminal mastermind who can only be described as evil. When Professor Hartman receives a letter from Queen Victoria asking him to repair her mechanical elephant he sets off for London, leaving the children in the care of the mechanicals, Miss Tock, Mr Wingnut and Lily’s loyal friend Malkin, a mechanical fox. Opening with Jack Door's escape from prison and following on with Lily's father heading to London to help try and fix the Queen's Elephanta for her upcoming jubilee. Before long, Robert, Lily and Malkin are caught up in the midst of this scheme as they race against time to find the Blood Diamond before Jack. I really totally adored this book, and look-forward to seeing the faces of the young people (and old people) who get to be part of this special, extraordinary world.

ReadingZone"A spellbinding sequel, a roller coaster journey full of catastrophe, buried secrets, breathtaking courage and intrigue. Lily works out that the locket is half of an encoded map showing the location of the Blood Moon Diamond.

However, I was quite a bit bummed that Anna didn't have as important a role here, and I quite missed the mechanicals when things started heating up too. Now Lily and Malkin, the mechanical fox, must stay one step ahead before Jack plays his final, deadly card. I was pleased by the aspect of this book that focuses on him finding his mom and I also believe that Robert dealing with the grief of losing his Da was realistic.I came to adore Robert quite a bit in this story, as I said above, it's focused more on him this time and Lily takes a bit of a backseat which was nice. We see Robert pining for his da, Lily aching for her mom, we see Lily's papa struggle to protect her against all odds, against her very wishes and we see Lily's conflicting feelings towards this, and all this make us connect to our favourite spunky adventurers more than ever. Your words, like your reviews, bring books to life and give them a voice before the front cover is even turned. Such questions are not only important for him but for other young readers as well, and to see how brave Robert deals with these problems will hopefully inspire many a child. Moonlocket is the wonderful sequel to Cogheart, and again we follow Lily and Robert as they run through steampunk-Victorian London, this time to catch a truly treacherous villain.
