I voluntarily received a copy of this book from Netgalley, Gallery Books and Nick Cutter; it was my pleasure to provide an honest review. But all of them are becoming aware that there are things in the woods, and when Eb, Minnie, and Micah arrive, they soon become aware of it too.

Because in no small way, Little Heaven feels like a neo-Western, the story of three hired guns who get brought in to rescue a boy in distress from a hostile compound, only to end up far out of their depth as horrors emerge.Many months after Little Heaven is settled a young woman named Ellen hires a trio of mercenaries to take her there. While this book is just under 500 pages, which isn’t terrible in terms of length, it felt much longer. his frail human eyes and his inadequate and too-literal mind were preventing him from seeing its more breathtaking true shape. The image that Cutter sets forward never leaves us and give us the kind of promise that he delivered in his first books.

No I don’t give 2 stars often, and I was so crushed about giving it to this one because I really wanted to like it!The body horror violence just keeps getting worse and worse, and every once in awhile we’d be treated to some actual visuals thanks to an extremely talented illustrator…. He hit upon so many of your typical horror tropes while snazzing it up in the Cutter style only he can produce. It pits the coolest and most unlikely bounty hunters against an old time religious cult and the ickiest creation this side of John Carpenter's The Thing. Long back story (which is really extended), the three are hired to go to a religious camp/cult deep in the New Mexico mountains to check on a kid taken there with his father (the person hiring them is his aunt). Fast forward to fifteen years later, Micah wakes up one day to find his daughter missing, abducted in the night.
