I know it would have been cost prohibitive nowadays but man, it would have been fun to see giant cannons mounted onto the back of this race car for the pure sillines of it.You can do this now if you use a tool like a flat head screwdriver and press the rectangular opening on the back. For the Core Class we have already seen this design with the releases of Studio Series Ravage and Shockwave.
The torso is made up of a combination of the driver's section from the vehicle mode along with the car engine. Drag Strip (or Dragstrip depending on the trademark of the moment) is one of the five original Stunticons, a team of land vehicles who could combine into the powerful Menasor. Now, it's probably easier to do that with a Core Class figure than a Deluxe or Voyager, but the concern is a valid one and I will be interested to see where this design choice goes in the future.
On the right is the now traditional vertical Transformers logo with the Generations logo above that. One of my many issues with CW Dragstrip was that the mold was obviously intended to double as Mirage. The versatility of the two guns is very interesting, where in addition to being held one in each hand, they can be combined into a "double barrel gun", or simply transported, hooked behind the robot's legs (photo 3); the detail of the positioning on the car, I refer it later in the text when I will deal with the upgrade kits! And while we adult collectors think it strange to mix these teams/factions up, this is not necessarily a concern for children. Although objectively speaking, this level of G1 accuracy does give it an arguably bland palette as the toy is overwhelmingly yellow. Indeed, it’s especially interesting how there’s virtually nothing about him that advertises the figure as doubling as a Combiner limb.A useful detail for the combination in the Menasor Legacy, is the fact that this Dragstrip can split in two by pressing into the small rectangle behind the robot's back (photo 8), so that the two sections of the car can be hooked between the combiner's arm and forearm, leaving the elbow joint free!
