About this deal

As long as you get the Kana Version of this textbook (there is an all-romaji version), you'll learn some valuable things. Now, more than a decade after its first revision, the series is being redesigned, updated and consolidated to meet the needs of todays students and businesspeople who want to learn natural, spoken Japanese as effectively as possible in a limited amount of time. On the other hand, the Japanese accent is comparatively difficult compared to other languages but simpler than the language. The title, Japanese for Busy People, may sound like it's aimed at you, the busy student with so much on their plate. In comparison to the other languages, the vocabulary knows very few pronunciations in addition to sounds.

Now, a decade after its first revision, the entire series has been redesigned, updated and consolidated to meet the needs of 21st-century students and businesspeople who want to learn natural, spoken Japanese as effectively as possible in a limited amount of time. Practice conversations, listening, rudimentary comprehension, and grammar and vocabulary usage on each topic. Many of these exercises are illustrated, making for a stimulating learning experience, and the purpose of each one is clearly stated. But if you actually want to get to know the language in an enjoyable way, there are better beginner options. This first of three volumes introduces "survival Japanese"-the absolute minimum amount of Japanese needed to live in Japan. However, Japanese for Business People might be a more suitable name, because it's aimed at career professionals, not students. This was frustrating for me at first, but now I think it is better as I have had more time to internalize the information. In the ten years since its publication, Japanese for Busy People has won acceptance worldwide as an effective, easy-to-understand textbook, either for classroom use or for independent study. I struggled to read sentences in this book that I would have read naturally if they had kanji in them.

Like the JBPI, the book's lessons are organized into 8 units, each of which covering a specific topic. I have Japanese for Dummies and it seems to cover a lot of material but it feels very scattered and therefore hard for me to maintain focus when reading it. I give it 4 stars for a good beginner book, but if you've been studying Japanese longer than a year, this is probably not a good book for you. Since it was first published in 1984, the focus of the Japanese for Busy People series has always been to teach Japanese for effective communi cation. This helpful practice book is intended as a companion to Elementary Korean but can be used with any other Korean textbook or as a stand-alone self-study guide to learn Korean. Students acquire practical conversation skills with step-by-step lessons on Key Sentences, Word Power, Speaking Practice(s), and Target Dialogue. The Association for Japanese-Language Teaching (AJALT) was recognized as a nonprofit organization by the Japanese Ministry of Education in 1977. this is a acceptable introductory choice, as long as you are willing/able/motivated enough to use other resources (like the internet or the library) to fill in the blanks. The Kana Workbook teaches the two basic Jap anese scripts, hiragana and katakana, which are essential for any student wishing to read Japa nese.
