Came across this link when reading a story about the pronunciation of Albanese (Anthony) so this could be the Anglicised version but the ABC reckons it’s VAH-lay.

I’m no expert but the guy in this fun video (link at the bottom of my comment) seems to know what he’s talking about so try this for correct pronunciation of vale and if it’s correct let’s educate our broadcasters because if they are going to appropriate a word then they should at least pronounce it correctly to show the respect to the deceased they are trying to honour.
