Resinous wood, such as Larch or Douglas Fir, needs to weather off for at least 6 weeks to improve absorbency. If any sanding works are carried out some fresh wood species must be weathered as directed above to improve absorbency once more.

Non pressure-treated softwood (except from red cedar) must be primed with the WOCA Exterior Wood Primer. Osmo provides the perfect combination of oiling and staining in one product with their decking oil range, offering 11 tinted stain colours with the high performance and UV resistance of natural Osmo oils. The special water-based composition of oil components ensures that the product is water-dilutable and friendly to the environment. Before full application of Osmo decking oil - Grey 019 decking boards must be clean, dry and frost free. It’s also important to apply the oil evenly, using a suitable brush, and to allow each coat to dry fully before applying the next.

Avoid applying clear Anti-Slip Decking Oil 430 as a stand alone finish as this offers limited UV protection. Carbodeck UV Complete Decking Oil Grey has a rich, flexible resin that prevents blistering and flaking.

Regular Cleaning: Damp cleaning with diluted Osmo Decking Cleaner using Osmo Decking Cleaning Brush. Alternatively they can be scrubbed with Osmo Brush Cleaner and Thinner (8000) (degreaser) or White Spirit to degrease the surface. Osmo sells their Teak Oil 007 as a dual-purpose product as it is perfect for Teak and decking, especially dark exotic hardwood decking which tends to be made from very dense and naturally oily woods.
