Created on the banks of Demerara, our smooth and uniquely complex El Dorado aged rums represent over 300 years of Caribbean rum crafting.

El Dorado 15 YO is a blend of rum from 5 different stills including the Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still, this famously gives an earthy almost peat like flavour to the rum. Focusing on the El Dorado line, the slightly less expensive 12 year bottle isn't as good as the even-less expensive 8year, so it's skippable. The Diamond Distillery on the banks of the Demerara river in Guyana is world famous for their timeless distillery. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Over the centuries the number of estates shrank until in 1970 there were just 4 remaining who merged to form Demerara Distillers who created the Eldorado brand in 1992.

Nowadays,after trying a lot of rums,i tend to the Guatamala-Peru style of rums,but Guyana is El Dorado to me. It has a full nose, packed with dark coffee, candied orange, almonds, dark chocolate, pepper, and rich vanilla, with smoky, spicy undertones and high notes of grilled tropical fruit—a smooth, sensual and exotic indulgence.

The 5 is a good baseline rum, the 12 a more complex drink, the 21 is rich, but the 15 is just delicious with a depth of flavour that evolves.
