About this deal

The book's inclusion of popular TV shows and literature was a delightful addition that allowed us to explore and experience the references for ourselves. Admittedly, I like to think I hold life to a higher standard than Brian's fairly flippant "oopsie-daisies", but than again, I'm not a werewolf.

The conclusion of the book strongly hinted at the possibility of a follow-up instalment, which left me eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the story of Brian and his companions. That doesn’t quite do justice to how important the theme of friendship was in the book, but you’ll just have to trust me. I think that the author skilfully took us on a journey through Brian's life before his transformation, providing valuable insight into his character and some of his motivations. Watching Brian desperately wanting to form closer connections with these two but holding them at arm's length was both relatable and again, frustrating.I am hopeful that a sequel is in the works, as I am eager to delve deeper into the world that the author has created and witness the further development of these intriguing characters. The introduction of the characters allowed me to fully immerse myself in the story from the very beginning.

i was dubious at first, i didn’t really know what to make of this book, i wouldn’t say i found it good though, but it was definitely enjoyable. Personally, I prefer the satirical and somewhat bitter tone of the beginning, and as such, I was hoping for a different ending. Tyler has a plan, and weirdly his self-help exercises are actually helping Brian from accidentally marking guys who ghosted him as monthly victims… but are Tyler’s motivations more insidious that Brian first thought?Tyler has got a plan, and weirdly his self-help punditry actually encourages Brian to shape up and to stop accidently marking out guys who ghosted him on Grindr as potential monthly victims. While the werewolf storyline took a backseat to navigating identity and complex relationships, it brought humor and carried significant queer themes. As Brian delves deeper into Tyler's worldview, darker motivations emerge, and he must use everything he's learned and everyone he knows to escape it. Bored Gay Werewolf is – shockingly – about a bored, gay werewolf, but it’s so much more than its title. The book explores just that, the intertwining of being loved and being known, emphasizing how loneliness can make one desperate for connection.

He's been struggling to manage his transition to adulthood almost as much as his monthly transitions to a werewolf. But as Brian gets closer to Tyler's pack, and alienated from Nik and Darby, he realises that Tyler's expansion plans are much more nefarious than a little lupine enlightenment.

While reading the book, I was struck by how it evoked memories of two popular television shows: "Bitten," which first aired in 2014, and "Teen Wolf," which aired in 2011. When he meets Tyler, a fellow werewolf with big ambitions, he thinks that this is his chance to become the person (or wolf) he’s always wanted to be. Bored Gay Werewolf is very much about finding your pack and embracing the people who embrace you for who you are, rather than changing yourself to fit in with people you don’t even want to fit in with in the first place.Corvus Atlantic’s commercial fiction list which includes women’s, historical, romance, sci-fi, crime and thriller. The protagonist isn’t the most self-confident lycanthrope in Oregon, but he is a sweetheart and very relatable and his friends are just lovely. Restaurant manager Nik and co-worker Darby – both marvellous, vibrant characters – represent the light of this narrative: Brian is eager to have closer companionship with them, but maintains frustratingly arm’s-length friendships. It feels that way in the beginning, but it touches on issues of wealth distribution, toxic masculinity, and classism, and immediately becomes not only a very fun read but a very relevant one as well. More than that, though, and like Scooby Doo with Grindr or Stranger Things with sex and ennui, it's a buddy novel about finding your pack, the power of friendship, and learning how to be comfortable in your own, shaggy werewolf pelt.
