About this deal

Leading to him turning his unit off until he wants to speak, thus not hearing what the other is trying to say to him! Binatone's multi-functional Latitude 150 is a two way radio twin with up to 3km range, 8 channel combinations and up to 2 hours talk time. The rechargeable battery and battery low indication feature offer convenience, while the belt clip ensures secure attachment for easy accessibility.

I'd also suggest getting a pair with CTCSS, which to be basic is a method that allows communication between your lad and yourself to be private, providing both radio's are set the same. They absolutely love them and the long range - which I tested with one of the walkie talkies by seeing how far I could go - is amazing!A real bonus is that they are rechargeable and come with a convenient charger cradle that hold both hand sets. LOL, I was lucky enough to have a go on a real Theremin in the Exploratorium at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco. I would say though that you have to make sure that 'TX' displays when the PTT button on the side is pressed down - I spent a few minutes trying to figure out why they appeared not to be transmitting).

I’ve tried different batteries, tried the different charging points, checking the batteries, swapping the batteries that do work into the handset but it doesn’t seem to be working. Definitely get a set with sub-channels rather than just 8 main channels so that you can keep your conversations as private as possible. I've noticed its not just no CTCSS, they don't actually have any squelch control at all, so they're obviously trying to keep it simple. While they will operate, doing this will cause accelerated deterioration of the batteries and will lead to them having a reduced battery life and eventually, an inability to hold a charge. I bought these walkie talkies as a fun summer present for my 9 and 10 year old children after they broke up from school last week and they haven’t stopped playing with them since!

They feel well made (they look as if they could take being dropped by kids) and the belt clip is secure.

Welcome to my site, my name is John and I have been lucky enough to work in horticultural nurseries for over 15 years in the UK. I think my favourite was a loop of copper pipe full of refrigerant with a hand operated pump at one side and a valve at the other. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. My lad who is ex-army and spends a fair bit of time out on the moors up here, uses a Motorola walkie talkie, a bit like the set in the link, not too expensive but not a toy also.

You may have to change channels a few times to avoid picking up local mini-cabs but there are 10 channels so not a problem. They don't have the distance suggested in the instructions which I think is 5km but we use them in a field down the road and can hear back at home once we're going back up the hill. Have once heard someone elses voice through them as we must have picked up on someones signal, bit eery and funny. I didn't bother reading the instructions, since they're just a toy, so I'm not sure whether this is supposed to happen.

Can anyone give me any recommendations of a good pair of units which can be left on without the crackle, give clear speech, can be charged and have good distance within a campsite. The Binatone Latitude 150 Twin Pack Walkie Talkie is a robust and easy to use device that can be useful in a wide range of applications. I think the kids would need to be 4+ as they need to understand that they have to hold the button down whilst they talk. The amperage output of the adapter is not forced and as such this adapter is safe to use on devices that require less amperage. Additionally, it features a battery low indication system, alerting users when the battery level is running low, ensuring uninterrupted communication. If possible, swap the batteries from a working walkie talkie to determine if the problem lies with the batteries or the handset itself. I encountered a fairly 'un-desireable' character a few years ago who thought it funny to broadcast obscenities to other radio users (by selecting the same channel in use), however the correct setting of CTCSS will reduce chance of you hearing stuff you might not necessarily want to hear while on site. Your OP has got me thinking about these now to keep in touch with the kids when they're off playing. The sound quality is very good as well, we have tested them for up to 2 km range and there were no noises or breaking up. They haven't actually run out of battery despite a few hours of being off the charger, so I would say that they keep enough charge for the time they're required by my 2 daughters.
