The Legacy of ABBA by Stany Van Wymeersch features his unique interviews and meetings with the ABBA members as well as talks with some of their closest collaborators (Lasse Wellander, Bernard Löhr, Hans Löfvenberg, Janne Schaffer,…). For example, did you know that in 1973, the group replaced the blond Agnetha by another blond female singer on a promotional tour? These break-ups provided inspiration for some of their most famous songs, though it must have been difficult to sing the words of Knowing Me Knowing You and The Winner Takes It All while their marriages were falling apart. Interesting book with more obscure lesser known information, prefer to think of it as an alternative rather than independent view. Early chapters focus on each individual members life before ABBA , Their early musical roots i found fascinating , seems like they were destined to meet and form ABBA .Can't give less than 4 stars, as it is a book about ABBA, but the author deserves barely two stars, just for the effort and a work done. His fixation on financial matters of the band is clearly unhealthy, I'd prefer information about their favourite books, movies, music, but he kept droning on about who earned how much and for what.What gives me most pleasure is that each of you, on reading this book, is going to discover - or rediscover - the story and the magic of ABBA. The only thing negative I can say is that it delves into the business aspect of Polar Music and all their various investments (and failures) and those parts tend to drag. Whilst the fascinatingly open and frank interviews of We All Love ABBA tackle the ABBA phenomenon in a highly refreshing and global pop culture kind of way, the selected photographs of ABBA and their peers, by renowned lensmen such as Brad Elterman, Govert de Roos and Aad Spanjaard, secure an enjoyable visual trip that starts in the ‘70s and ends in 2016. I will never understand why, but instead of permanently disabling my radio, I actually listened to the lyric.
