About this deal

There were some items and situations frequently re-explained, oftentimes very closely to the last time these things were mentioned.

While this second autobiography gives a great deal of advice to aspiring actors, the stories of his encounters with so many legendary figures are fascinating. Caine has also clearly worked very hard, and he wants his readers to know that he’s never taken his success for granted. He knows what success takes - he's made it to the top of his profession from the toughest beginning. Overal this could be seen as an easy read, his previous autobiographies were somewhat more fun and less preachy. He refers a bit to his time in the infantry, of which he observes almost everything is pleasant by comparison.

This is the second Michael Caine's book that I read and, as the first, it was a very pleasant reading. Now in his 85th year, he looks back at an incredible life and career and everything it’s taught him – sharing hard-won wisdom, brilliant insights and stories, as well as the skills of acting and the movies we can all learn from. From left to right, Margaret Blye as Lorna, Benny Hill as Professor Peach, Michael Caine as Charlie Croker, Michael Standing as Arthur and Raf Vallone as Altabani in Paramount Pictures' 'The Italian Job', 1969. It is very clear though, that Caine may be a great actor, but he doesn't have much experience reading aloud.

In my head I had already imagined and then quickly written off Batman, but I thought perhaps I could be a great villain. If you want to know more about his biography go to Elephant to Hollywood and, if you are interested in, try this one after. Learn what you can from what you get"; "Be lucky: be prepared"; "Use the difficulty"; "Just say yes", and "Whatever it is, give it 100 per cent".I recommend this book to everyone, but especially to Michael Caine fans, actors and people aspiring to be actors. This is good advice, although I'm not sure we then need so complete a run-down of all the steps he takes in preparation for a day's performance, from packing his bag the night before, getting a good night's sleep, and allowing for unexpected delays in the journey. Still working and more beloved than ever, Caine now shares everything he's learned-and "his fans will be rewarded, as will anyone seeking an enjoyable, inspirational read" ( Library Journal).

Still working and more beloved than ever, Caine now shares everything he’s learned-and “his fans will be rewarded, as will anyone seeking an enjoyable, inspirational read” (Library Journal). The life lessons he extrapolates from these early years will certainly stand readers in good stead, but they're also all pretty standard. You won’t read this but I am grateful for every word and take great pleasure in your continued success as a person, husband, father, grandfather and one of the most adorable actors I’ve have the pleasure to watch. Sir Michael Caine, CBE was born Maurice Joseph Micklewaite near Elephant and Castle in South London. Even so, there are some really entertaining stories throughout, which are told with his ever-present wit and humility. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.
