The basic construction is mainly composed of metal and wood, which might make you think this is heavy, but you’d be wrong. The carry case is good and the extra cables included with audio jack adapter are a really nice touch. The 99 Classics are also a good deal lighter and for those with smaller heads/necks this could, indeed, be a determining factor. The Meze 99 Classics isn’t a Bluetooth headset, so if you’re looking for a wireless option you’ll have to look somewhere else.

Barber’s lips come with a clarity and naturalness, that pauses, momentarily, the review process, once again.I know many people will be happy for a similar-sounding headphone as the Classics but with a bit more low-end grunt.

Positioning, layering, and separation are very good and will together provide many “you are there moments. The shallow depth of the pads also means my ears are touching on the driver grill but that little bit of padded material covering the grills takes that sensation away rather nicely making that a very comfortable experience. These cables plug into the jacks at the bottom of the ear cups, and are joined by a plastic Y-split protector. With the exception of the removable cables, pretty much all of your interactions with the headphones will be some variation of: place on head, hit play.
