Everything from the school (in a cave) to the furniture, food and lighting is all something to do with the sea, such as fish used as lamps, or a clam shell bed, moss pillow, etc. Her famous aunt Christobel Blue had a reputation at school and Marnie’s worried about how the teachers, and other mermaids, will treat her. Still plenty of illustrations but a bit more complex plot and vocabulary than the early chapter books. All profits from our events and parties support Zanzibar Schools Project, an initiative set up by Brighton and Hove Soiree Rotary Club. Marnie is upset that the teachers seem to think that she is going to behave in a certain way because of her aunt and that people don’t like her and she doesn’t know why.

I was brought up that as long as I am me and not pretending to be someone I am not, to not worry about what people think of me. As the lessons progress mermaids, will progress onto partner and group routines, advanced movements and mermaid fitness, testing their inner mermaid ability.
