About this deal

On the lighter side, 'Garden Party' finds Marillion's cultured wordsmith, Fish, venting his spleen at the British class system - the nice, but dim 'Oxbridge' types are firmly in the firing line here - but the attack comes in an amusing way.

In addition to that, the Blu-ray also includes the previously released Recital of the Script video and, as extras, promo films of some tracks from the album. This is the first Marillion album featuring the original recording line-up of Fish [Vocals], Steve Rothery [Guitar], Peter Trewavas [Bass], Mick Pointer [Drums] and Mark Kelly [Keyboards]. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. This album features some of early Marillion's finest moments: every track is a stand out with my particular favourite being the haunting "Chelsea Monday" which has very strong contrasting light and shade through superlative musicianship. Script for a Jester's Tear is the only studio album by Marillion to feature the band's original drummer and founding member Mick Pointer, who was dismissed following the album's UK tour.

EMI took advantage of the opportunity and persuaded the group to replace him with Nick Tauber, a producer known for his work with new wave band Toyah and regarded by the record label as more modern. In 2020, EMI released a deluxe version of the album with four CDs and a Blu-ray disc that contains new remixes of the original album, the full "Market Square Heroes" 12" single (except for the original version of "Market Square Heroes" which is replaced by the "Battle Priest" version), and a previously unreleased live set from 1982 at London's Marquee Club. This is in no small part to the presence on the kit of Pointer who lacked his successors drive and strong rhythmic ability. after a recent Marillion rebirth in my CD collection I'm now aquiring the full back catalogue of the 'early' (the best years in my opinion - sorry Steve H) albums.

It was produced by David Hitchcock, who was also contracted to work on the group's first full-length album. The first single, " He Knows You Know", preceded the release of Script for a Jester's Tear and launched the group into the Top 40, reaching number 35. There really isn't a bad moment as the warm, yet sparse, weave of the songs carries the early, mannered Vocals of Fish through his first Loves and Life experiences.

Wenn man ein und dieselbe CD zwei mal hat, spricht das ziemlich eindeutig dafür, dass diese Musik gefällt. This was Mick Pointers' only Album recording as he was eventually replaced by Ian Moseley for the second album Fugazi. He Knows You Know" gained some airplay in the United States and reached number 21 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart. Diese Musik MUSS man in einer ruhigen Stunde unter einem wohlklingenden Kopfhörer genießen, um alle Facetten erleben zu können. It was the penultimate release of Fish era Marillion albums in a recent deluxe reissue campaign that also includes Misplaced Childhood, Clutching at Straws, Brave, and Afraid of Sunlight.
