This whisky has been aged initially in former Bourbon American oak barrels, before a finishing period in cask that previously contained Pedro Ximénez sherry. The Road is firstly matured in American oak casks, and is then moved over to casks that previously held 20 year old Pedro Ximenez sherry. The result is an extremely flavoursome Jura whisky, which serves up all the classic oily peat and maritime flavours, alongside some delicious notes of jammy fruit, sweet wine, woodspice, toffee and dried fruits.
