About this deal

The Steam Deck plays nicely with third party docks, with the company going so far as to assure you of such on the official site. The Ivoler Steam Deck Dock is a cheap alternative to what I’m expecting the official Steam Deck Dock to be. With Steam's official Dock only just being released in late 2022, other manufacturers have grasped the opportunity to fill the void. The missing DisplayPort output compared to the official Dock doesn't seem to be an issue, as I can hit my desired resolutions and refresh rates over HDMI, but might be necessary if your monitor has a free DP but no free HDMI ports - probably a rarity?

A plain white box with Ivoler on the front, and bare-bones details about what the product actually does, but does it matter much?I did consider one of the aluminium options available, but at the end of the day, I see a tiny strip underneath the Deck when it’s on there, so what the hell, saved the money.

The resolution on my monitor is 4k 60Hertz 3840x2160 and the ivoler puts the steam deck at that resolution. But, if I had the same configuration settings open on the Steam Deck, the maximum refresh rate I could select for the external screen was 120Hz. It also features a heat dissipation grill to keep the device cool during extended gaming sessions even if the Deck is on charge. I would mention, that when you plug in the steamdeck for the first time, it asks you how you want to display the second screen, be a little careful, I don't know how to get that option back just yet after I picked extend when on desktop mode (very easy to loose the mouse on the big screen, I wish I had hit duplicate) Also, when the steam deck is in Game Mode, the main screen on the Steamdeck itself does not work (yet, maybe? I plan to eventually get a dock so that I can bring my Deck to friends and family's houses and play cooperative games. One such brand is Ivoler, a smaller company looking to mimic the form and functionality of the Nintendo Switch Dock with its own Ivoler 5-in-1 Steam Deck Dock. Its own USB-C cable reaches over the back and onto the top of the Steam Deck, which is a nice touch for the Steam Deck's positioning as it allows great space for ventilation during longer sessions.
