Ciò che racconta è tratto dalla storia vera di Enaiatollah Akbari, un ragazzo afgano che ora vive a Torino. A narrare in prima persona è il protagonista, un bambino di dieci anni, a cui poi però si fanno dire cose come "caravanserraglio". incredibilmente arrivano a destinazione (o meglio arrivano ad una riva, ma non sanno dove sono), ma uno di loro è caduto in mare e l'hanno perso. La differenza tra me è Enaiatollah in realtà sta nel percorso che lo ha portato a oggi: perché Enaiatollah, a differenza mia, non ha avuto la fortuna di nascere in Italia, in un paese libero che non conosce la guerra da decenni.

Ribadendo quanto siano importanti i fatti di questo libro (si tratta di una storia vera), non posso però non dire quanto poco mi sia piaciuto lo stile di Geda. That he somehow manages to survive and get to Italy, when many of his companions do not, is as much down to luck as it is to quick judgment and an ability to connect with people – some of whom are kind and helpful to him at crucial moments.
