I’m falling deeper in love with this cast of characters and I can’t wait to see what’s next for them. I liked the couples first encounter and thought the setup of a professional hockey player helping out a homeless girl sounded super unique and interesting… but not much else was working for me after that. Money can be a touchy subject, so I commend the author for doing such a brilliant job at adding complexity and depth to their romance.

Its the ultimate in slow burns, but necessary because of the plot because to do otherwise would have been cringey. A lesser heroine might’ve seen Ryan as a gullible meal ticket, but Zoey never would’ve used him that way. These books have the hockey romance I am looking for but also so much more with the action/suspense. Plot overview: Pro hockey player Ryan meets homeless Zoey and takes care of her after she’s beaten up by street thugs. Honestly, it was a pleasant surprise to find that nearly all my problems in the first book were IMMENSELY IMPROVED in this installment.
