The story line has been done a ton in horror movies and books but had a great twist here that made it stand out and not feel redundant. I would definitely give the author another go and have heard wonderful things about his debut novel The Impossible Fortress. I found myself quickly engrossed in the story and wanting to learn more about the pictures and the strange things happening around/in the house. I’m telling you there is zero chance of Mallory not knowing the truth within hours of starting her job.I will say that Rekulak’s style of writing is good as this was a pretty interesting way to start a horror novel.
