About this deal

Friday’s cool, but it gave me the exact same feeling I got from playing Mage Knight or Phantom Leader alone. Previous 2-star rating: It's nearly impossible to learn or relearn the game in this app, unfortunately. Everything is done very professionally with this company and always lets you know every step of the process. If you lose against a danger, you lose some health tokens, but you can get rid of the cards you lost with (generally weaker cards). Most cooperative games are hard, but Friday will sit right with some of the big boys in terms of difficulty.

If you have enough points to defeat the hazard, then it goes into your deck (it has two images on it - one representing the hazard and one representing what Robinson learns by defeating it). The player is Friday and must help Robinson to survive and prepare him for the last two battles against the pirates. Since you will go through the hazard deck three times, a lot of the strategy of the game lies in which cards you choose to encounter at various points throughout the game. Friday is a deck-building game in which you try to add good cards to the deck and get rid of the bad ones. However, when you actually look at that, it often looks like you just played one of your cards upside down, so it takes a second to register what exactly is going on.

Friday will challenge you and strategy is key to ensuring you successfully survive everything the island has to throw at you! There are decks that represent Crusoe’s abilities and decks that represent the dangers he has to face as sweats his way around the island.

During a turn the player will attempt to defeat hazard cards by playing fight cards from their deck. The dangers have a rating I have to equal or beat and they also tell me how many cards I can draw to tackle them, to try to score that rating. Friday , the second game in Friese's Freitag-project, (Black Friday was the first) is about Robinson and Friday (Freitag).

This is represented by having an "aging" (bad) card added to your deck each time you have to reshuffle it. Friday offers different difficulty levels for once you become more skilled in the game, but I’m still plugging away at the easiest. Finally the player will use their optimized fight deck to defeat two evil pirate ships allowing Robinson Crusoe to escape the island!

There are various cards that will eventually be worked into your play deck, all with a tropical island theme. You are forced to improve this card stack, so you can collect the cards at the end of the game to give Robinson the best chance to win against the tough pirates!Even then, it’ll take you a few plays before you figure out the UI, as even with the limited help the UI is not intuitive. If you have no health tokens left and lose one more health point: game over; if you defeat both pirates, you win. These decks are; the Robinson deck, the Hazard deck, and the Ageing deck (in easy mode you will remove the ‘very stupid’ card first). While creating this fighting deck, you will also be able to pick up skills, skills that will be vital for you to survive.

While playing Friday you are trying to add good cards to your deck, while also trying to trash the bad ones.

I like how you find you’re not just looking at the challenges you face, but also the potential rewards for defeating them, wondering if you should take a bigger risk to win a more useful bonus for later.
