About this deal

Uganda is also visited by approximately 800,000 tourists a year, with the main tourist attraction being the Mountain Gorillas. This work is ineligible for copyright and therefore in the public domain because it consists entirely of information that is common property and contains no original authorship.

The grey crowned crane is fabled for its gentle nature and was also the military badge of Ugandan soldiers during British rule. Our flags are proudly made in the United States from durable nylon and are printed with vibrant long-lasting inks. Gold fringe is the traditional way to display an indoor flag, however, some people choose without fringe for a simple and clean look that is also less expensive. A Red Field with 6 lines of black (top), yellow, red, black, yellow, and red (bottom) downwards and the coat of arms in the center. The three colors are representative of African peoples (black), Africa's sunshine (yellow), and African brotherhood (red being the color of blood, through which all Africans are connected). The colours were those of the ruling Democratic Party, and when it lost national elections on April 25, 1962, the newly dominant Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) rejected the flag proposal. We start with vibrant RGB art and lay down our own 8 colour bi-directional print onto the fabric, forcing far more ink through the weave than many of our competitors.

Instead, the UPC horizontal tricolour of black-yellow-red was repeated to produce six equal horizontal stripes, and the crested crane was placed on a white disk in the centre. The flag fabric material we use in advertising flags has tear-resistant characteristics, ensuring the product endures for a long time. We are the first UK supplier to offer an eco-friendly option rather than the standard polyester flags made from virgin plastic. After the party lost the national elections on 25 April 1962, the newly elected Uganda People's Congress (UPC) rejected the former design and instead proposed the current design.Six equal horizontal bands of black (top), yellow, red, black, yellow, and red (bottom); a white disc is superimposed at the centre and depicts the national symbol, a grey crowned crane, facing the hoist side. Handsewn – Giving an extra touch of quality to your flagpole our handsewn flags are meticulously appliqued using 155gsm woven polyester by our team of seamstresses based in the UK. You can increase the life of any flag by taking it down at night, avoiding flying it during periods of severe weather, and also by ensuring that the flagpole is free of rough patches and protrusions upon which the flag can catch. It has the same durability, strength and versatility of its knitted polyester equivalent but with a much lower environmental impact.

The three colours are representative of native ethnic groups of Africa (black), Africa's sunshine (yellow), and African brotherhood (red being the colour of blood, through which all Africans are connected). We expect our durable outdoor quality printed flags to last as well as sewn flags whilst flying much better at lower wind speeds. Encyclopaedia Britannica's editors oversee subject areas in which they have extensive knowledge, whether from years of experience gained by working on that content or via study for an advanced degree. Choosing the Antifray option results in a piece of white netting being sewn to the right edge of an outdoor flag. Our Digitally printed Uganda (1914 - 1962) Flags are manufactured from 115gsm Ministry of Defence approved knitted polyester flag fabric, the highest quality print fabric available for outdoor flag making. The originally proposed flag design had vertical stripes of green-blue-green, separated by narrower yellow stripes, with the silhouette of a yellow crane in the centre. Combining excellent value and great performance makes this Uganda flag an excellent choice for any occasion. A blue field with a yellow saltire that extends to the corners of the flag and 4 yellow stars in each blue corner. British explorers came to Uganda in the 1860s to try and find the source of the Nile and in 1894, the country became a British Protectorate until its independence in 1962. A Verical tricolour of green, blue and green with 2 lines between the stripes and a grey crowned crane, facing the hoist side in yellow on the blue stripe.

He also designed the Uganda Coat of Arms and various ceremonial items, which he registered with the College of Arms, in London. Uganda has eight major rivers (including the River Nile) and five major lakes (including Lake Victoria) and one fifth of the country is covered by water. File:Signataires de la Convention internationale sur la protection des droits de tous les travailleurs migrants et des membres de leur famille. It is also the most corrupt country in Africa and home to around 500,000 refugees and asylum seekers. In our view, heavier sewn flags appear to last longer only because they spend less time flying in light wind. The grey crowned crane is considered to be a bird with a peaceful and gentle nature which represents the people of Uganda and their nature.
