About this deal

In fact, the whole development of Beyond Paradise most resembles its origin story: a walk through a fantasy conservatory with abstract, imaginary flowers. Gardenia bloomed on my wrists, along with jasmine and other notes I sadly cannot remember now (this being 9-10 years later. It reminds me a bit of Elizabeth Taylor's Gardenia, but with stronger acquatic notes and a much more complicated base.

Now when I am assessing other perfumes he didn't like, I have to give the other perfumes the benefit of the doubt. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. I experience Beyond Paradise as a sort of prism in reverse, with its many notes coalescing into a smoothly abstract whole. I really like Luca Turin's reviews, they are very funny, but sometimes it's hard to believe we are testing the same frag. It had a huge aquatic top note, as I remember it, and in those days I hated all aquatics although I've since come to a moderate appreciation of them.

The notes don’t veer off in any one direction stopping short of going too sweet, too wet, or too flowery, like a pendulum that never reaches the outer edges by swinging wide, but maintains a tight orbit in the middle, does that imply some type of stability? I have a 100ml, unused, original rainbow bottle of this, still in its box, which I'm pretty sure I bought duty free in around 2003/2004. It's exactly how I expect Heaven to smell like, Hyacinth, Hibiscus, Orange Blossoms, Orchids, Arabian Jasmine, Gardenia and Honey Suckle brushed along Amber and clean Musky air of Heaven fallen into the crystal clear streams, then in this bottle. Enter Pacifica Califoria Star Jasmine, similar hauntingly beautiful summer floral with a soft woody base, NO HEADACHE! And very unlike fresheners, although in these days room fragrances have evolved into masterpieces themselves. We had an elegant and trendy teacher who wore it as a signature scent and I was secretly very jealous. Not sure I could pull it off in middle age, but it holds fond memories of the most recent turn of the century. Unfolding on the skin with a fascinating blend of tropical wetness zesty freshness and bursting floralcy meet your new summer scent!

Read about this perfume in other languages: Deutsch, Español, Français, Čeština, Italiano, Русский, Polski, Português, Ελληνικά, 汉语, Nederlands, Srpski, Română, العربية, Українська, Монгол, עברית. I can't really say much more, except that this is a really complex fragrance, but overall so pleasing and relaxed. Thinking back, mere consideration towards her sensibilities may have been the reason I never purchased Beyond Paradise. Lovely scent; hyacinth, bergamot, honeysuckle and gardenia are the standouts, very fresh and almost photorealistic, lingers beautifully. In the summer evenings, after a hot day, is when the flowers become fragrant like a sweet breeze that invites you to enjoy the fresher hours of the day. This is a beautiful traditional white floral fragrance, along the lines of Gucci Bloom without the tuberose, Modern Muse (greener, but similar honeysuckle, jasmine) and Narciso Rodriguez. However, they should have retained the original rounded tear-drop shape for the larger sizes and the beautiful rainbow colours for all sizes. I fell head over heels with that perfume in my twenties because it was unlike anything I've tried before. He couldn’t understand why I would want to smell exactly like the jasmine, tuberose and marigold that Indian women wore woven into their hair and that Indians gave to their deities’ statues.

The 90's were a change in direction for perfume which was sorely needed, a new era, a fresh approach. She used it quite sparingly, usually on special occasions, but the little bottle still ran out within 6 months. This smells very summery, but sometimes I like to wear summer fragrances in the winter, like a little olfactory vacation.
