I hooked it up to my Roland Micro Cube GX and tested it out in all 3 pickup configurations in lots of different styles.

The EC-10’s neck finish is much smoother than the Les Paul’s, but its engineered wood fretboard can’t compare to the LP’s rosewood. Tremolo bridges are usually set up as "floating" which means that if you push or pull on the tremolo bar you are able to change the pitch of the note or chord that you are playing.

This is not the sort of 'action' that you get from the audience after the show when you're lead guitarist in an '80s rock band. I’m a big fan of the neck, it’s fast, plays really well, and has a really nice, light satin finish on it that I love. Regardless of which model you choose, the Epiphone Les Paul Special provides a highly enjoyable and rewarding playing experience that can take you from your first lesson through to recording and live performance. You also can't discount the importance of having the right "look" if that is what you are going for. Even still, it doesn't play particularly well with my Overdrive pedal, even at its lowest gain setting. The main negative for this type of bridge is that you don't have the flexibility to change the pitch of a chord easily as you do with a Tremolo. Epiphone have paid great attention to detail on this guitar, including the traditional pearloid "Dot" inlays along the fretboard, making it easier to find notes and chords.
