Perhaps it was down to the use of cliché though Jay Kristoff certainly had me fooled here for a second. I would not recommend nor gush about it, it would just be a thing for me, like all the books I read are.

I'm going to get them as ebooks because the weight of physical copies will absolutely break my bookshelf. As I became more and more invested in the characters, the character’s flaws turned into something positive for the overall quality of the narrative. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. But it is crucial to have something about them (determination, unflinching bravery) that drove me to like a part of them enough to continue reading or at least feel invested in their story.The slow drip of worldbuilding and mystery reveals are a huge reason why this series stands so strong. I haven’t read many vampire books, but if you know of any that don’t get much love then please share! You’ve read my rants on the book, and if I were to give a rating based only on the first half of the novel, it would barely be a 2 stars rating. I am absolutely stoked for the next in this series and recommend it to every single person that will listen to me go on and on about it! The whole sample was intense, laced with a sarcastic humour as you find out more about Gabriel de Leon, Dior and feel one step closer to knowing why he is being help captive.
It felt like Kristoff, who constantly say he cursed a lot in real life, just finally found out he can use the word fuck, fucking, and whoreson.Spice things up with a duology or, with the amount of content, maybe split it into TWENTY NORMAL SIZED BOOKS? Daylight has become as scarce as hope as vampires slowly take over the continent, leaving death, destruction, and the zombie-like wretched in their wake. And this time out, the "calm" before the storm gives us a lot of time with our favorite characters and introduces some great new ones. Also, the tension of the battles felt palpable because the villains of Empire of the Vampire (The Beast of Vellene and The Raven Child) were ruthless, terrifying, and powerful.
