About this deal

You need to get to the artefacts and escape the ship before Eradicus’ cooling fan hits you in the back of the head. You could build your deck to be thin and efficient so you can be the fastest player in and out of the ship. The ship has unknown loot lying around everywhere, some of which have useful functions such as healing you, while others grant even more points, and of course, the cards themselves grant points. Plus if another were to escape or die first, Lord Eradikus will kick up the eradication efforts another notch. This standalone game sees players sneak into Lord Eradikus's dark flagship to steal his artifacts, while trying to stay quiet enough to avoid sealing their own doom.

I do feel the game is a bit more complicated than the original as well as there are new card mechanics to learn. I would expect the map and the deck building to work together, but this isn’t really a thing since your deck tends to just provide movement and occasionally some combat. I have several friends who previously wouldn’t look twice at a game with a zombie theme but who love Dead of Winter. It took me 4 readings of the book to discover that a black cube that you have at the end of the game gives you one point because it’s buried in a paragraph about taking black cubes from the scheme. All the while this is happening you are making noise aka Clank and adding your specific colored cubes to the Clank area on the board.Move your character around the ship, hacking the terminals to open your pathways and building up your deck with tools and allies to aid in your endeavours. Note: even though I like Cyberstation 11, I think it’s a really smart move on the part of Renegade Game Studios to create a simple expansion that adds variety without bogging the game system down with too many complications.

Any player out of the game, either because they escaped or got knocked out, gets to pull cubes from the bag on their turn, like an extra attack. That said I have so much fun building my deck and just chatting about the game with other players during play that I don’t even mind the low interaction. While I think “Stumbles” are important to have and should be difficult to get rid of (if there is no chance of you generating Clank, then the game becomes too easy), decks get pretty large and unwieldy. The board has some information overload at first, but once you’re familiar with the rules it’s easy to decipher.

And so they went to the place where the board gamers congregate in times without games (Board Game Geek) to spread the word of what they had seen. Is not only the name of this series, it is also the literally-named mechanic that makes this series so fun. Long answer: Pulsarcade has moved to the top of the list of recommended expansions for those who love Clank! in Space long after you’ve stopped chuckling at, for example, the card that combines into a single character Princess Leia from Star Wars and Leela from Futurama. A single map to play on (well, two, but after your first couple of games you’d always play on the second), and one that unfortunately encouraged a dead sprint to the closest treasure and back out before the dragon could mummer a single, confused, ‘hobbits’?In addition to hording artifacts, Lord Eradikus is trying to wipe out the resistance against him through some kind of nefarious scheme. None of this is explained and it wasn’t until I came to the forums did I find the answers to these questions. If you manage to combo it with another Science card, however, you get -3 clank, so you get all the gain with none of the pain. This is the best kind of expansion: one that adds more interesting things and choices but doesn’t add any complexity or time to the game. It makes sense on the surface but ends up feeling less and less like infiltrating a ship as you pretty much travel with a clown car of misfits.

Play the whole shebang – the MCP and the arcade cabinets, the new modules, and the Disguise Kit (the new market item). I played Dune Imperium before I played Clank In Space, so I really shouldn’t be surprised at how well the card play intersects with the board.Moving throughout the spaceship can yield rewards, if you move over a space that has an Artifact you can pick it up, but you can only take one.
