Anyway, settle in for some awkward poses and what I think is a rather lovely handmade dress - may I present - The Solina!Still, though, the more I use the Breaking the Pattern book, the more I have a few very practical beefs with it. Breaking the Pattern is the first authentic dressmaking book that showcases the beauty of Scandinavian style. Instead, you need to reach inside yourself, tap into your wisdom, and connect the dots for yourself and others. With the exception of fulfilling its aesthetic function, the ties get in the way of hand-washing (*ahem* toilet etiquette in general), curry-eating, blog-writing and everything in between. In retrospect, I should have added 8 cm, since I was finally forced to finish the bottom edge with a narrow fabric strip to preserve the length.

This is very helpful to me since I don’t like tracing off the paper patterns provided in the sleeve of the book. Other details that I like are the soft, modern mandarin collar and the front slit in the midi-length skirt.
