Sure they sometimes do things I wish they wouldn't, but so much of what they do do (lolz, I'm an absolute child! Princess Romeria's father, the king of Ybaris arranges the marriage of his daughter with the prince of Islor, now King Zander of Islor for peace.

There's so much world building that takes place, and it took me almost 60% to fully wrap my head around all of it. The dynamics between them is very interesting and I love their slow burning relationship; and let me tell you, the unexpected twist in the storyline was a… “Wow!This book is a great mixture of modern Urban Contemporary/Traditional Fantasy romance reading, and is a perfect read for fans of the From Blood and Ash and Crescent City series. I was utterly hooked right from the very first page and am so incredibly sad that I can’t yet continue with the next book as it hasn’t been published yet.

The world and overall story were interesting, I'm just not invested in Romeria and felt the story was too slow, but other than that, I definitely recommend this if you're looking for what is likely going to be a very popular and epic fantasy-romance series! It's intricate and original, elemental magic has always been my favorite type of magic but there is also more to it.There were info-dumping and world-building, and it felt like it was supposed to lead up to the "real thing", but whatever that is I'm not sure?

I think that the plot had them (the leads) too focused on talking about politics, conspiracy theories, and figuring out who their enemies were that not much of their wit, charm, sense of humor, and true personality shone through. What you would you do if in that same new world there is a certain class of people who are in slavery? She also has to struggle to understand because she has no memory of the other Romy or her agenda to fully grasp her current reality.There are scenes that made me smile and laugh, others that made my heart ache, and moments that shocked or had me on the edge of my seat.
