I enjoyed the last line of chapter 4 as it was so unexpected. After securing a publishing deal, Ben went on to write four more Christmas books, and his latest story, which follows the adventures of Tog the Christmas elf, came out just last week. Like his previous work, Diary of a Christmas Elf and The Night I Met Father Christmas, this book will be in a diary format, which Ben believes encourages children to read more. As with most elves (I have to imagine), Tog dreams of working in Santa's workshop, doing something important and worthwhile. Yet he seems destined to work with reindeer poo... Oh well, at least his lemur toys are going down well with all the youngsters at the North Pole... Ben, 55, told Express.co.uk that “anything’s possible” when he was asked about his character DI Richard Poole’s potential return to Death In Paradise. He said: “It’s like an advent calendar in the way that it’s designed to be read. So, the idea is the diary starts sort of roughly now and runs up to Christmas day.”At one end of the room was a roaring fire, framed by garlands of holly, ivy and mistletoe; at the other sat Father Christmas, flanked by his Right-Hand and Left-Hand Elves. It was about a boy called Todd and he met Father Christmas. He wanted to become a Christmas elf but it didn't go well.
