Though he clearly could’ve continued his highly successful recording studio career, Parsons went on to form The Alan Parsons Project in 1975. Overall, it is clear that From the New World is not one of the very best Alan Parsons albums (counting The Alan Parsons Project in or out), but still, it is quite all right. Sounds like he's trying to channel Ammonia Avenue, which wasn't a bad album, but no where near the Project's best.

The Project consisted of a revolving group of studio musicians and vocalists, most notably the members of Pilot and (on the first album) the members of Ambrosia. The different singers throughout are not distracting, and it would seem that Parsons has very carefully chosen what songs fit the vocalist.Denys Parsons was a scientist, a film maker, and the press officer for the British Library, as well as a talented pianist and flautist. Parson's re-purposing of Antonin Dvorak's 'New World Symphony, Second Movement' as 'Goin' Home' sounded like something off a Broadway cast album. The album really ends with the dramatic and emotional “Goin’ Home”, which is beautifully orchestrated and quite emotional. Besides David Pack and Joe Bonamassa, guest appearances include Tommy Shaw of STYX and American Idol alumni James Durbin, all of whom blend seamlessly with Alan and his incredible band.
