About this deal

Starting with both Purple Oud (PO) and Santal noir (SN). They are both smell differently and i would say they are almost new to dior collection especially PO. Style versus terroir has much to do with the availability of the original tree, therefore. In some countries such as Malaysia, Thailand, and Laos, oud-producing trees are still plentiful, at least in plantation form, and therefore may still be thought of in terms of geographical provenance. For example, because there are plenty of Thai agarwood trees, we can think of them simply as Thai oils, rather than Thai -style oud oils. However, when we talk about trees that no longer exist, like the original Crassnas that produced the famous 1970s Cambodi oils, it is more accurate to talk about Cambodi -style oils. The Oud Orchid fragrance is irresistibly attractive and fascinating. It will permeate the whole atmosphere with a good smell. Take advantage of this oriental scent to announce your arrival, wherever you go. As with any raw material that is both prized and in short supply, synthetic variants have been developed to replace it. The largest companies responsible for producing synthetics, flavors, and bases for the perfume industry, such as Firmenich and Givaudan, have each developed several high-quality oud oil ‘replacers’ that are used in commercial perfumes to approximate key aspects of the aroma profile of oud oil or oud wood. There are many of these oud synthetics on the market, but here are a few of the most noteworthy or most commonly-used ones. I’ve yet to figure out why it’s called Purple Oud. There’s nothing “purple” about it apart from the colour of the juice. Nothing about the smell profile seems to naturally conjure up the colour purple.

Many people find the buying of oud anything stressful, partially because of the extra outlay involved and partially because of fears over authenticity. The more money one spends, the higher the expectation of purity. Nobody likes to feel that they are being duped. But a bit of common sense will help steer you in this matter. To avoid a build-up of dust on your petals, gently blow each petal using a hair dryer on a COLD setting keeping the dryer at arm’s length. Or occasionally, wipe the petals carefully with a damp cloth to remove dirt.Ps. I don't know where to put this but Fruity note here really remind me of Fruity note in La Nuit de L'homme Le Parfum. They both share nondescript fruity note and it's somewhat smell similar, with sharing wet Patchouli. It's also reminiscent of 1 Million, just a touch with the opening sweetness, but it's not as cloying or in your face as the Paco Rabanne monster that everyone and his grandad oversprays, it's far more intimate, more sophisticated yet more opulent. As previously discussed in Why Oud Smells the Way it Does, species, terroir, inoculation, and distillation technique are all factors important to the final aroma of the oil. But the scarcity of wild oud and the subsequent rise in plantation cultivation means that geographical and species boundaries are not as important as they once were. With the near depletion of the original wild trees that once gave us the best oud oils, distillation styles have stepped in to fill the gap. Boy... this is STRONG! This fragrance just makes me think of bakhoor in the opening and then dries down to the smell of a man who hasn't bathed for days smoking cigarettes on his leather couch. It is a very smoky, dirty and dusty smell to me and it doesn't smell clean or pleasant to me at all. I wish I got more of the zesty and sweet orange to freshen this up more and maybe some added neroli or orange blossom would have been nice too? I just personally don't understand why anyone would want to smell like this. I also couldn't get much of the pink pepper at all, other than small whiffs here and there. The oud just took over everything...

SIMILAR: These are examples of fragrances in the same genre. Amouage Jubilation XXV Man's EDP is a great oud and sweet fruity fragrance; Oud oil from high-quality, wild Laotian wood is difficult, if not impossible, to source, so most Laotian oils on the market are actually distilled from plantation wood. The oil that is produced by Laotian plantations is plentiful and consistent in quality. Therefore, much of the output is sold directly to the large flavor and aroma factories in France and Switzerland, where it is used in upscale niche perfumery. The characteristics of Laotian oud oil are as follows: The very best examples display an aroma that’s close to the smell of oud being burned as incense: green, damp, pure, and smoky So far, it's the worst perfume I ever smelled. The long list of the notes, that are listed here, is impressive, but there is no complexity it this perfume, just cacophony. Oh yes, and there is something sweaty in drydown that comes up like a final unpleasant surprise.

No mint or menthol in this for me whatsoever. I get dead wood and smoke initially, then the smokiness disappears into overripe (nearly rotten in hot sun) berries, then a touch of that smoke again with syrupy chocolate and vanilla. The base notes are smoky and intoxicating. This promises to make you travel to the Orient from the first vaporization!

As a whole, this is a dark, alluring perfume designed for sophisticated, elegant, and attractive 35+ women who know what they want. Although its notes may evoke a heavy and strong scent, as a whole, it is never an overpowering or nauseating fragrance. Not for the faint of heart, thats's for sure! It wouldn't be the right choice for those who don't like to draw attention and prefer the conventional. Both product I just mention have longer longevity compared with the 8 products released 2018. However, they do not last long like Oud Ispahan. Regardless, the fragrance itself is a mix of orange, pink pepper, saffron, cedar, and eponymous oud. It opens with proportionately more citrus and then dries down to the spicy woody blend. It's never really overpowering in any one aspect, but the citrus gives way to a woodier dominance on the dry down, with the saffron adding plenty of character and pepper adding some spiciness, predictably. Oud is incredibly complex, consisting of over five hundred aroma compounds, so it would be difficult for a single synthetic molecule to replicate its complexity. Synthetic oud fragrances showcase one or two facets inherent to real oud, such as a medicinal note or a smoky sourness. But no oud synthetic can adequately represent its full range of flavors and hues. You can maybe in the long and lively development sometimes detect some separate notes for a short time like the dark chocolate, the incense, the orchid, the vanilla, the amber... But you are literarlly blown away by this concentrated mass attact of awesome perfume power. Smell and awe. Incense, dark chocolate, orchid, vanilla, amber and gardenia are the most pronounced notes for me.However, the Cambodi-style of oud oil became so popular that distillers and producers continue to make oud oils that mimic the original characteristics of the original Cambodi oil from the seventies. The main aroma characteristics of Cambodi-style oud oil are as follows:
