One Day with You - two fateful goodbyes, two unexpected hellos, and 24 hours that change everything. Max’s POV was well-done. I have no sympathy for him or Anya. However, the execution molded the character very well. It was impactful, more than Tress or Noah’s POV.

My only tiny gripe would be the way that one character’s evolution comes to fruition, in a way that I felt might have been too abrupt. I wanted to see more from the potential fall out with relationships–to see where things would go, to see how this character would deal with things going forward, but I didn’t get to see that. Despite it, though, One Day With You was an amazing and thought-provoking experience, with a lens inside of the human condition. It was a definite five-star experience!

The deaths don't appear to be connected in any way until one particular death occurs and gets the Secretary of Defense's attention. He arranges for a task force to investigate. The story follows 4 friends Tress& Max and Anya& Noah. Tress heads into early labor right after Max heads off on a business trip with Anya. Why can Tress not get in touch with Max...I'll tell ya why, cuz he's hitting it with his bff's wife and they're not really where they told their spouses they would be. So if you can get past the infidelity your heart really breaks for Tress & Noah. I loved how every chapter was a character's POV. There were times in this book, I found myself thinking "No, no, no, no, no!" and others where I felt various emotions. This book was equal parts gripping, tense and emotional. It's heartbreaking but ends on a hopeful note. I listened to this one through Hoopla and I was impressed with the narrator. The emotion she showed when she was Noah speaking to Max in the hospital was really something.While “women’s fiction” is not my go-to genre, I liked this book a lot more than I thought I would; I didn’t want to put it down. I particularly enjoyed the humorous bantering among the widow and her friends, women “of a certain age.” Shari Low weaves a great tale. My first five star read of the year. Another aspect I liked was the age gap between Tress and Max. It wasn’t highlighted or used for the plot. It was what it was. ( Tress is older than Max by 6-7 years). Overall, I would say that "One Day With You" has potential, but for me personally it fell short. It's definitely an engaging read with some sweet moments, but I couldn't help feeling that it could have been better.

There are lots of characters and while I didn't like some behaviour by some characters (If you read it, you'll know) it was all integral to the story, so completely necessary. Shari always harbored that writing dream, and eventually acted on it once she hit thirty, had a mid-life crisis, and wrote the first three chapters of her book “What If?”. She shipped it off to two agents and five publishers and just crossed her fingers.

Sixty-something neighbors Nancy and Val help her get to the hospital. Their story lines are endearing and relatable. Really enjoyed the contrast of the hospital with the events going on for the older generation around town. At the center of this story is the heartbreaking consequences of infidelity. A cautionary tale if ever there was one.My first book was published in 2001, and since then I’ve gone on to release over 35 novels, so I owe a huge thanks to all the readers, reviewers and book bloggers who continue to read my work and keep me in a job! Shari delivers a highly entertaining novel throughout and one that readers enjoyed reading, even the sections that had them sobbing. Thank you, NetGalley, and Boldwood Books, for the eARC. This was an entirely, depressing, complex and sadly true novel, for people who know someone or have experienced the tragedies, highs and lows in their life, as such the characters do in this novel.
