The author’s focus on two major events in young Elizabeth’s life, highlight moments which changed her life forever. This is a good opportunity to spend time with children discussing what happens when events, out of our control, occur and cause our journey to take a different direction. I read this with my niece and nephew, and we talked about how our attitude can make all the difference in the world. The first lesson Elizabeth learned was that “a good queen serves her people, not the other way around.’ This shaped her destiny and contributed to her incredible legacy as the longest serving British monarch.

She could not have envisaged what the future would bring, but she was prepared and enabling so that many others fulfilled their own dreams through her advocacy, support and service.

This charming book beautifully captures the life of the late Queen Elizabeth II for children 4 to 7. There is no doubt that her love of country life and animals never dimmed, and one of my favourite illustrations is this one, of her beloved Balmoral Castle in Scotland. She spent her summers there every year, and it was at Balmoral that she died in early September 2022. (This was being published before her death.) This book gave a good overview of the Queens life. It ends at her Platinum Jubilee, so no need to be worried about any sad parts. A much-cherished sovereign across the globe, Queen Elizabeth is respected for a lifetime of service and devotion to her people.” My son has really enjoyed reading this book about Queen Elizabeth especially after her death.He has found it very interesting and has enjoyed learning about her life.

Oh, I see, you actually mean Elizabeth II, the most recent Queen of England, and not the person named on the cover. So you mean the dead one, who was still warm in her coffin while this book was being promoted? Well, I'm glad it's out of date for you, then, for parading this around as a digital review copy within days of her passing and when she's still lying in state is shameful. This one kept my niece and nephew engaged and was the perfect springboard to further discussions about our new King, the succession and what it means to be a royal child. I was excited to receive a copy about Queen Elizabeth. I think like many people, I wanted to know more about the Queen of the UK, after her passing on September 8, 2022 at the age of 96 years old. Elizabeth was always known for how seriously she saw her sense of duty to the people of her country. She served for 70 years which made her the longest reigning Queen in the world. She was also the most admired, which I just learned reading this book. I’m a huge fan of the Little People Big Dreams series of books. I’ve built up quite a collection for the kids and I love how empowering they all are.
