About this deal

During the secret build-up to the Horus Heresy, the Death Guard Legion battle the alien Jorgall in their bottle-ships. Garro loses a lot in the Flight of the Eisenstein: his closest peer; his aforementioned assistant; and one of his legs. Having witnessed the terrible massacre of Imperial forces on Isstvan III, Death Guard Captain Garro seizes a ship and sets a course for Terra to warn the Emperor of Horus's treachery. I think I can appreciate the more tightly focused story around a single character (Garro) this time around, though in doing so found his personal religious rebirth a little tiresome by the end. One thing I love about the HH(so far) is that the action and war take a back seat to character development and politics and such.

You're not going to cover much of the same ground at all, so don't worry about a retelling, you will occasionally see a familiar face but this is an entirely new story. While I was confused between giving this book three or four stars, the final battle with the corrupted King of Flies almost elevated the story to five star read. What a series, what an amazing bunch of authors, and what an overall story this is turning out to be. The escape from the Istvaan system was awesome, and the journey through the warp and battle with Grulgor's men/Nurglings was fun as hell.The pre-loved books are carefully cleaned and maintained offering a wide variety of general and specialist titles from children's to adults.

Apothecary Fabius of the Emperor's Children is not listed in the Dramatis Personae, but makes a brief appearance in Chapter Six; Fabius is a major antagonist in James Swallow's Blood Angels (Novel Series). Treachery, intrigue and salvation all bottled up into a couple hundred pages of pacey action, reaction and revelation in the gothic sci-fi cosmos of Warhammer 40K. Spoilers->Rogal Dorn could have been explored more but it was not really necessary to the story (I just love the lore).If you're going to have a premise with one, known, outcome then either have a protagonist who might have ulterior motives, or introduce some other uncertainty either in the plot or in the intentions of the characters. I rather enjoyed the opening ballard between Garro and Grulgor – who delights in putting down old-straight-arrow-Garro whenever he can. Still, I thought the quality was consistently good, with Garro able to hold his own as a protagonist. However, Swallow does an excellent job of introducing us to the new characters; a talent that I both love and despise, because I'm a giant softy and I hate it when well liked characters die.
