About this deal

I’d even go so far as to say it’s his best comic in years, though that’s only because he’s put out a lotta crap in the last eight or so years! It guides the reader from beginning to end, leaving a feeling of worry with a final bloody footprint. Both were stories about perseverance in the face of insurmountable odds in which the protagonist made a perilous journey. That style is nicely followed up in the second issue, when we certainly get a greater gist as to our man and his mission – at least, we think we do. However, the abundance of silent sequences might hinder full emotional investment in the plot's development.

So many great moments - when Wen puts the pigeon out of its misery, the horror of seeing the murdered couple and realizing he saw the hit man, his heart pounding as he approaches the next victim's apartment beside another hit man. This might not be doing anything exactly brand new – again, it's kind of hard to say for sure – but it is doing it in a calm way that heightens the drama when it happens, and in a way that proves action gives character where text often fails to.It’s got a thin story with sparse dialogue, but that is kind of the point, and it’s a departure for Remender. You could also really feel the intensity and emotions of the characters, even without any words attached to them. Wen, a man of few words, finds himself in over his head as he takes vengeance on hit jobs set up on the dark web. Where Remender’s script lacks words, André Lima Araújo’s illustrations more than make up for it in astronomical proportions.

He heads out to an home in an isolated area only to find the owners brutally tortured, then murdered. I wouldn't say I could tell you who these people actually are, how they got into this situation, or whether the reader is even meant to know yet. The pacing of the book is really intriguing as well as like the first issue, there is very little dialogue to the book but when there is, it only serves to deepen the mystery.This is different from a lot of my usual comics, but intriguing enough that I'll be checking out the second issue.
