Without doubt, Leica Geosystems' DISTO ™collection comprises the most technically advanced, flexible and reliable laser measures in the world. Robust, rugged and fit for the task both indoors and outdoors, all Leica DISTO ™laser measures are IP54-rated as a minimum. In other words, they are all splash proof and dust resistant. Some DISTOs are even IP65-rated meaning that they water-jet proof and dust-tight. IP65 units can even be rinsed off under a tap after a hard day's work. There are four laser measures within the DISTO ™range which, whilst working perfectly well indoors, are also ideally suited to life outdoors. These are the D410, the D510, the D810 Touch and the incredible new S910. The Leica DISTO ™ D410 is ideal for those who need to perform traditional laser measure measurements (i.e. linear distances) in an external environment. This great value tool is IP65-rated (water jet proof and dust tight), features a 4x digital zoom, accuracy to +/- 1mmand a range of 150m. Whilst all distos are ideally suited to taking indoor measurements, if the vast majority of your measurements are being taken inside you could save quite a bit of money by option for either the D110, D2, D210, X310 or D3a BT. One and two steps up are the Leica Disto D2 and D210 - both offer fantastic levels of accuracy, enhanced functionality over its smaller brother and IP54 protection (water splash and dust resistance) as standard. It's also ultra-compact at114 x 50 x 27mm. The D810 Touch was, until recently, the king of laser measures delivering a previously unseen level of functionality. The first laser measure in the world with a touch screen, the D810 has only recently been surpassed by another model in the Leica range - the S910. With the D810 customers can measure on screen with pictures, can physically take photographs, overlay measurements on top of them for reference and can then export those images/measurements by USB cable. With the D810 you get all the benefits of the D510 and much, much more. On Screen Pointfinder with digital 4X Zoom –ideal for outdoor measuring where the laser point is difficult to see in daylight. With an Area and Volume function and the ability to remember the last 10 measurements taken, you can use the Add/Subtract capability to combine measurements to get a precise reading of the total wall area of a room (aka “the painter function”). With their guaranteed +/- 1.5 mm accuracy, 60m range, 5,000 measurements between battery changes, small size and fantastic range of features, the D110 and D2 are not only the cheapest of the DISTO ™range, they're also the most popular. D210 offers more advanced functionality, enhanced range and accuracy for a modest premium whilst the X310 delivers 120m range, a360 degree tilt sensor for measurement of inclines and multi-function and an auto-sensing end piece for measuring from corners and slots. The D3a BT, however, with its incredible Smart Horizontal Mode for measuring horizontal distances past physical obstacles (amongst other features) is ever popular in no small part thanks to its AutoCAD plugin. Leica Distos for Outdoor Use You use a laser measure by pointing the laser at the target and press a button. The distance will be displayed on the screen. Some laser measures also have extra features, such as a a digital level, calculator and the ability to store multiple measurements. What are the different types of laser measure?
