The author seems to have relaxed and found a style, there are less overused stylistic phrases (message:received, house alive with death, the woman, the man etc), the wordiness has been toned down, and there is less hopping about in terms of timeline. She is an interesting speaker, full of life and humor and very knowledgeable in the field of paranormal.Thus began an incredible odyssey; a supernatural excursion through dimensions of time and space as the history of its characters from the ages began to reveal themselves to seven mortals who could not conceive of and never anticipated such events transpiring in our lives. Since it was over three centuries old, many people had died there over time (although there were an unusual number of suicides I think). Leaning back into his perpetual pose, watching, no doubt wondering about a sudden changing of the guard, he too would soon become a familiar part of the new landscape.

The female figure who showed herself with a broken neck was identified by the Warrens as Bathsheba, and often attacked Carolyn, the girls' mother. Another part that I so disliked was in various parts of the book the author would type in "Boo" who goes there or Boo, who's knocking on the door now, or Boo, who just picked up the phone. It was the perfect place to raise a family, according to the owner, though he failed to disclose a crucial element of the experience he endured as an occupant. I wonder if there wasn't something already on the site where the farmhouse was built (a portal to somewhere, a confluence of ley lines?

If it was cut back to a few chapters on topic and developed a story line with progression it would have been much better. The world is finally ready for the message it will receive within these pages, described in the media as INTENSE, DISTURBING, RELEVANT. They know where the doors were, but while they talk about the three stairways to the cellar, (how many to the second floor?I enjoyed the overall story (not sure how much I believe), but it is sooooooo wordy and quite badly written in some cases. Aside from the poor writing quality it's hard to take this as a "factual" account, considering that Bathsheba Sherman never lived in this house, never went on trial for allegedly killing a baby and did not commit suicide. She is far too biased and cannot, for the life of her, step outside herself for a moment to present the proper picture.

Then she made matters worse by self-publishing it with a money-greedy publishing house who wouldn't know a good bit of editing if a real editor bit them on the ass. Wonder if the doll that I saw in the trailer is in 2nd book or 3rd, cause she wasn't in the first book. Although I can read Kindle books most of my friends cannot and own Kobo's or generic ereaders making book clubs difficult indeed!
