About this deal

The gears in question are right in the middle, so there's not a lot of scope to replace them with anything else. But I did find a solution.

We appreciate that some fans who were looking forward to this set may be disappointed, but we believe it’s important to ensure that we uphold our brand values. I look forward to seeing what Sariel concludes in his video review, which should be available in a few days. But some LEGO fans defend the color problem as not being a problem. I know Technic is a functionality toy but you have to respect the fans that are into LEGO for the looks of a car, Architecture or a building that in lately is made with disturbing difference in colors. Rather than have one set of gears surrounded by two 3l beams in the middle of the gearbox, why not have 2 sets of gears with one beam between them, like this: There is also a real life white-red color scheme for the Osprey. The battery box is switched on and off using a red lever on the front left-hand-side of the fuselage, which can be seen in the pictures above. The hop half of the fuselage houses the motor and gearbox, which directs motor output to one (or more) of four operations. The interior design of the engines brings no surprises. It is just a solid structure with lovely use of smaller panels for aerodynamic shape. Small turntables allow for the robust mounting and smooth tilting of the engines.

But the whole “go woke go broke” sentiment is nonsense. This set really is an anomaly. Anyone who has worked for Lego or watched a documentary or two would know that Lego has always opposed making sets of military assets. They’ve made exceptions for historically significant air craft from generations ago, and they also have IPs like Star Wars with fictional, fantastical, and sanitized forms of warfare or violence. They’ve toed the line with some sets that are clearly based on actual military hardware, though modified and depicted in non-military roles. We will never know whether the set was cancelled due to external pressure, or because of this flaw. The fact that LEGO did not offer it to fan media for review a month or so ago at the same time as the other summer Technic sets suggests to me that it is the latter. In fact, one could argue that the external pressure provided a way for the company to save face and look like it was doing the right thing, while keeping the real reason for its withdrawal under wraps.The small linear actuator at the bottom of the picture will be connected to the cargo bay door. Another one is added later to operate the landing gear. In the review I posted earlier I concluded that 42113 Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey has a design flaw that causes parts to become damaged, and that could well be the real reason why its release has been cancelled. Once they've been attached all that remains to be done is to cover the mechanisms, and attach the tail and the rotor blades, which are a bit fiddly.

LEGO® has a policy of not releasing modern war vehicles as a set. After the LEGO® 42133 was unveiled, it was therefore criticized from various sides and even announced to demonstrate at LEGO® Brand Retail Stores. LEGO® therefore decided to postpone the launch and therefore cancel it entirely. Replacing them will require major disassembly, and really not worth it if it's only going to happen again. What this list doesn't have: All parts with new color listed in the previous question in the original colors. I will not be discussing its suitability as a LEGO model, or the company's decision to cancel it at the last minute in this article.
