About this deal

The Tri-Screen 2’s best feature is its portability. When compared to two dedicated monitors, it’s significantly more user-friendly. However, I can see how it would be great if you travel on land as opposed to traveling by plane. If you have an RV or campervan, or you move from office to office, you really can take it with you and set it up anywhere. Just remember you’ll want a constant power source because it can drain your laptop battery. If you’re mainly traveling on land, then you won’t have bags with a weight limit and it’s easier to find a table to work on. In that case, you should have no problem taking the Xebec Tri Screen 2 around with you. As a secondary monitor used for multitasking, you may find a smaller size display can accommodate your work habits and need for extra portability. Meanwhile, if your work requires photo editing, writing, drawing or annotating, choosing a second monitor with a touchscreen display and higher resolution will be beneficial. How It’s Powered

Please note that not all USB-C ports support video. Please reference your laptops online user manual to verify. If your laptop does not have a Thunderbolt 3 port or USB-C with DisplayPort or an HDMI port, then you can use any other video out ports shown above along with a simple HDMI adapter. Please note that this is different from the "Power Only" port, despite the fact that they are the same shape. The "Power Only" port is indicated with a battery symbol. I think the display quality is stunning! Everything looks basically the same as my main screen, which is impressive. I had two more issues with the Xebec Tri-Screen 2, and while neither are dealbreakers, they’re worth noting.

USB-C Extension Cable (x1): 

After a number of years in the corporate consulting world, the original Tri-Screen (or “The Xebec” as we called it then) was born out of the need to have multiple screens while we were working on the road. Once we built it, we knew we were on to more than just a product but a new way to live and work.

Similar to the last point, I don’t know enough about laptop gear to understand what all the different cables are for. I fiddled around with them all at the start, but couldn’t figure out the best way to connect the screens. Screen size: 15.6-inch touchscreen | Screen type: LED | Resolution: 1,920 x 1,080 pixels | Ports: USB Type-C | Weight: 1.9 pounds | Dimensions: 14 x 10 x 0.2 inches | Speakers: Dual stereoSelect Settings > System > Display, and choose a screen orientation from the drop-down list next to Display orientation. All in all, while the Tri-Screen is compatiblewith the Surface Pro, we find it is best enjoyed on a traditional style laptop vs. tablets. Using the included USB-A to USB-C cables, you will plug one end into the Tri-Screen USB Type-C (power only) port and the other end into your laptop's USB-A port. Using the included HMDI to Mini HDMI cable, you will plug one end into the Tri-Screen Mini HDMI video input and the other end into your laptop video port. Note, you may require a simple HDMI adapter depending on your specific setup. I’ve given the Xebec Tri Screen 2 a 7/10 for ease of use because I found it pretty confusing to set up, but it’s super easy once you get it going. They are small displays, though. About half the height of a standard laptop screen, but you can adjust the zoom levels inside Windows or Mac settings to accommodate.

Now that you know which ports your laptop has you can determine what cable(s) you need to connect each screen. Remember that each screen requires both a video and power feed to function. The longevity of use will depend on what laptop you use and its battery capabilities. The Tri-Screen 2 runs off the laptop’s battery. Tripling the displays massively increases power consumption. I’ve been testing out the Xebec Tri Screen 2 for the last few months. It’s an innovative new piece of technology and here is my honest review!

M1 and M2 Chipsets

If you’re a laptop user who wants to use multiple screens everywhere you go, Xebec’s Tri-Screen 2 is a fantastic option. I tested the Tri-Screen 2 on my Lenovo Legion 5 Pro, which has an 80Wh battery. This declined at about 1% every minute with the Tri-Screen 2 turned on. This was twice as fast as using the Legion Pro 5 on its own. It eats up the battery, and you’ll want to have your laptop plugged in when using it.
