I have noticed toothpaste/moisture can build up around the metal shaft that extends out from the brush handle. Drips down the brush head and pools here. You can normally see it out of the corner of your eye, but it’s easier to spot if you brush in front of a mirror.

A softer brushing sensation can be achieved by using the softer bristled Sensi UltraThin brush head. It is one of a range of interchangeable Oral-B brush heads compatible with the Pro 2. With the Pro 3, there are a series of dimples running from the top to the bottom of the handle. These dimples are far more subtle in appearance. They do provide texture onto which the fingertips can grip, but they are not quite as effective as the raised ridges on the 2000. Behind this is an LED that lights up to produce a bright red light when too much pressure is detected during the brushing. It goes out as soon as the pressure is reduced.The handle is water resistant, so a rinse under the tap is perfectly fine. All the important electronics, including the battery, are sealed inside. Both offer the standard daily clean mode and a more gentle sensitive mode. But, the Pro 3 offers a third brushing mode, known as whitening.

The extra power & movements of the electric toothbrush do bring benefits for sure but they are not an absolute must. I would not advise anyone to pay any attention to the whitening mode and certainly not pay any more money for it Reply If the Oral-B Genius is an Audi, the Oral-B PRO 2 2000N is a Skoda. Same company with so much value for the money. Neither brush has lots of unnecessary features, albeit the Pro 3 – 3500 does have a whitening more that is far from essential. It could be they have made a change to the hardware. I would question if this is an issue as normally you wouldn’t need the toothbrush on for as long as 4 minutes & 30 seconds. Hi Jon, based on your very informative and helpful review I also went for the Oral B pro 2 2500. I’ve had the brush for just over a week now and on the whole I am happy with it. I also have not experienced 2 weeks of battery life. I charged it fully after unboxing and have used it for about 6 days and the red light has already come on to indicate low battery. This makes me think the brush probably does not travel well particularly without the charger. Reply For a long time, the Pro 2 2500 was our top recommended electric toothbrush. However, it has been discontinued and now the Pro 3 3500 is the newer equivalent.

This means you get 2 brush handles and 2 brush heads included in the box, compared to the more typical 1 brush handle and 1 brush head.The problem is in my opinion that making too much of a thing of the brush movements may mean users are looking for the fastest and most powerful all the time, thinking this is better, when really it is not all that important. I just bought PRO 2 2000 White version and noticed it auto turns off after about 4 minutes 30 seconds. Is this normal? Review doesn’t mention anything about auto turn off. Braun claims it doesn’t auto turn off after 2 minutes. Reply
