Once you have stripped all four wires coming out of the heat pad and the additional four wires from the temperature sensor, you are ready to move on to the next step. Hi Ty, yes, the temperature sensor is to be sandwiched between the heat pad and the battery and there is no need for a fuse.

Once the ambient temperature sensor reaches 35°F, the switch is enabled, allowing current to flow to the heat pad. It sounds like the top of the compartment is getting up to 45F or higher, but the bottom, where the cells are, is colder. The pad was engineered originally to prevent RV water tanks from freezing during winter, but works just as well on lithium batteries inside or outside the camper.

The white wire should then go into the white positive wire connector, the red wire into the connector with the black negative wires. I have the smaller one in my underbody pack, and its been good down to 20F so far (1/2" XPS insulation, and 5 exterior sides).

First, in Step 2 it now says “Plug the two white (positive) wires from the temperature sensor into the first push-in wire connector. Please keep in mind what temperatures the battery will be exposed to, because regular exposure to high temperatures (>100 degrees Fahrenheit) will accelerate battery aging. The battery does not produce a lot of heat internally, and the heat pad does not preclude heat transfer, as much of the heat is transferred through the sides that are not covered. I live in Maine and will only use the Overland Trailer once and awhile, but it also could get cold while using. So no more screwing around, when I get to my winter boondocking in AZ I'll get the 12v heating pad and add it under the cells.

The armouring supplied on all of our heated pads is there simply to help protect the cable with in, indeed nothering otherwise.I think you could wire one of them to control the ones with built in thermostats but, seems too jury rigged to me. If you are trying to use a lifepo4 battery in freezing cold temperatures, battle born just released a 12v heat pad for keeping the batteries warm without melting the case. If the bottom of the compartment isn't insulation well, I would considering just putting down some XPS foam.
